a destination for entertainment
The arts have an unparalleled ability to bridge a community—diverse stories evoking a connection to humanity. And we believe a theater is the perfect space to foster the kind of conversation and discovery that will contribute to the vibrancy and appeal of downtown Wooster.
the vision
We will strengthen the local arts community by renovating the vacant building on the corner of South and Liberty Streets to be an independent cinema and live performance venue.
In collaboration with local arts partners, we will meaningfully contribute to the economic development of downtown Wooster while increasing access to the arts for Wayne County.
the programming
An independent cinema and live event venue, The Lyric will feature a dynamic mix of storytellers—those who tell stories through films, spoken word, music and even comedy. Striving to be a hub for artists and arts enthusiasts alike, we are developing expansive programming.

Concept image - final design may change.
Contrary to the large chain theaters we see in towns across America, The Lyric will be a space that offers a distinctive experience and a memorable night out. The building is 10,000+ square feet and is designed to be a welcoming space for cultivating community connection.
The renovated Lyric Theater will include three screens with a variety of seating layouts and capacities.
East Theater - ~100 seats, sloped floor, recliners, booths, and High Top Tables
West Theater - ~ 65 seats, rocker seats, cinema sofas with ottomans
Screening Room - ~23 recliners seats for flexible programming
Lobby - robust concessions area serving beer, wine & refreshments
Lounge & Gallery Space - area to congregate before/after show
